Timor Leste Adventures

For such a small nation, Timor Leste has a rich history dating back to the 14th century where it was part of the Chinese-Indian trading route. It was then colonised by the Portuguese, shortly occupied by the Japanese and then the Indonesians before gaining independence for itself in 1999. It is the Portuguese and Indonesian periods that still have a lasting influence on the culture of the young nation. The country is a rugged landscape of high mountains, open plains and ultimately pristine beaches. All of these should be explored to gain a true appreciation of this fascinating country.
